RehaMove client Timo writes - it was a nice sunny Sunday afternoon when I met some friends at the beach. We had a challenge going on and one after another we were to dive from a very high bridge. I was the first one to jump. Thinking of it today, it definitely was the biggest mistake of my life. I broke four cervical vertebrae.
I am Tino Ammon, a C4 quadriplegic. I am paralyzed from the chest down with partial feeling in my legs. I used to be a very active person, doing motor cycling etc.
After my accident in 2006 I had no idea how to
move on. Playing wheel chair rugby in the second national league as well as
wheel chair basketball in the first minor league helped me to get over my
accident. Sport was a crucial part of my life and still is! Not only in
order to stay fit, but also because of the people you meet during the games or
in the leagues.
To reduce my leg spasticity and stretch my ligaments, I used to see my physiotherapist three times a week.
Several months ago I experienced training with the RehaMove FES Cycling system as part of my physiotherapy. It makes a big difference to my body and my entire body system. It helps me to reduce my spasticity and increases my blood circulation.
I have been using the RehaMove FES system three times per week for six months, 40 minutes each training session. My legs move theoretically independent by means of low intensity impulses. I can even pedal with a higher gear! I feel great! Since I have started using the RehaMove FES I am in much better condition. My performance in sports has increased. It's definitely a system to stick with!"
