Brita is a 40 year old RehaMove client from Germany. She writes
"Since December last year I experience a strange prickle in my fingers. After my doctor diagnosed a disease called polyneuropathy I wasn’t alarmed initially but started to worry over time as the prickle became numbness which again turned out to be problematic when coping with my daily tasks. I used to work with the elderly and feel like one of them now.
I was not even able to get up in the morning. After a short while I started with an intensive rehabilitation programme. Although independent movement was not achievable that time, I noticed how my general condition gradually improved. The standard gait therapy was not enough though in order to compensate my strength and coordination deficits in both sides of the body.
It was 11 weeks ago that my therapist suggested using the RehaMove FES Cycling system – I can tell you that I am generally a quite sceptical person. My first contact with the RehaMove was absolutely positive yet and my scepticism disappeared from where it came. I didn’t sense the therapy to be unpleasant or painful at all.
The movement is fun and it is great to have control of the power I produce with either my left or right body side. Another huge plus of the RehaMove is the possibility to train my arms or legs with the same device. During the training I fool around with my therapist as the system works relatively independently. That also motivates me if the resistance appears to be too intense for me. With the symmetry control I get the feedback that’s needed to balance my deficits. It would be absolutely fantastic to have my own RehaMove for home use. Well, I am going to ask my therapist tomorrow…"
